PDs arrived back to Nicaragua a few weeks ago and re-settled into the Manna house. We have welcomed two new boys, Josh Eddings and Kyle Barthelson, into the family. Here's what's been going on...
Around the Manna House:
Kyle fixed the moto (that Dane crashed last year!). Many accidental “tricks” and wheelies have taken place along the Carretera Vieja a León.
Sydney was in heat a few weeks ago, making Cola crazy. As hard as we tried to separate them for the 10 day span, Cola is a maniac and broke through all gates and leashes to get to his mother/lover. To make a long story short- there were many nights of amor, and we are anticipating another litter of incest puppies.
Sometimes we put Build-a-Bear shoes on Sydney. See photo below.

Manna PDs went to visit Elena’s house yesterday. We made corn tortillas, held chicks, and ate delicious pancakes and eggs. See photo below.
Worcester State occupational therapy students came down a few weeks ago with professor Jackie to work at Michelle’s School and a special needs orphanage called Hogar Belén.
Yacarely just graduated from University with her degree in "ciencias economicas." She also won a business competition put on by the Millenium Challenge in El Sauce, for a tourism project. See photo below.
Cedro Galán & Chiqui:
El Farito is getting a facelift! – Kathy has hired workers to re-paint the floors.
A family has bought the land beside El Farito (not Doña Juana’s; the other side) and has thus far only put up a tall red metal fence.
Elena and Eduardo are putting an addition on their house! See photos below.
Raquel (Gregoria and Anielka’s mom) had a tubal ligation last week and is recovering nicely.
Lidia (mother of Gerald, Axel, and Jolis) recently had baby number 5. He is a healthy baby boy.
Little Elizabeth’s mom (who is Mercedes’ sister) recently had a baby named Emily Christina. (Christina and I would like to think she named her after us!)
Gabriel just got a job at a school near Hospital Samaritano. He will be teaching guitar, computers, and P.E.
Juana and Adriana’s family has opened up a small supermarket in the vacant building in front of Gabriel and Fabricio’s houses (right before the road to El Farito).
Doña Lorena just had all her children move to her house or the house next door, which belongs to her oldest daughter Jennifer. Olga just started a new internship in a law office where she is learning more about her trade. She loves this new work, and is excited to use her major. Her son Emilio is about to start classes at El Farito and the Children's English class in Chiqui. Jensil is still in school, studying business administration and tourism. Alba and her boyfriend live with Jennifer. And Dayana is still involved in everything and still wants to be an actress.
Jeyling's "mom" (the grandma of all the kids in that area) passed away 6 months ago and since then Jeyling is living in Ticomo with her dad and aunt. She met a boy there and now they are getting married in the coming months!
La Chureca:
Felicita from Chureca is moving to Costa Rica to find work. Abagail, mother of Arlen and Tatiana, has already moved there.
Marta, mother of Everts, is having a baby girl on February 2. Mildeana's mother Liseth is also pregnant, as is Ana, Estevan's mom. Esmo is trying to get all the women to have a tubal ligation. Sandra, mother of Lidia, did get this surgery after baby number 10.
Jennifer (of English class) just turned 16, and Michael, Nikki, and I went to La Chureca yesterday morning to celebrate with her family.
Manuel (who works with Juntos Contigo) has been in The Netherlands for the past 3 months and will return to Managua later this Spring. He has been taking classes there.
MPI Programs:
We went to the beach last Sunday with the Advanced and Intermediate English classes. See photo below.
We are starting two new programs this year – a nutrition sector to women’s health and a homework help time after Feeding Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Rosemary (lives in Chiqui, comes to advanced English) has been hired as the full-time librarian at the Land. The library is open every afternoon, and the kids love Rosemary! See photo below.
The boy PDs are starting a men’s soccer team.
